February 13, 2020
Ok, I admit it, I have a problem. I’m totally addicted to wedding blogs, wedding magazines, wedding IG accounts, Pinterest… you name it! If there’s a wedding trend going down you can guarantee we’ve seen it! Sometimes that can lead to trend fatigue! Certain things have been appearing in our feed for so long that we’re just like, oh god, no! However, there are some trends that we just haven’t seen enough of yet and we’re excited to put a fresh spin on them with our 2020 clients. We have a pretty incredible itinerary this year. We’re returning to some favorite Seattle area wedding venues like Mountain Springs Lodge and Trinity Tree Farm, and heading to some new ones we’ve been dying to work at like Axis Pioneer Square, The 101, The Ruins Astoria and The Hiyu (my McDreamy loving heart can hardly stand it!). Through it all you can expect the coolest couples, fashion forward attire and a plethora of unique and innovative wedding details! Here our some of our must have trends for 2020!
Interactive Seating Charts
Seating Charts can be a sure fire way to set the tone for your reception and encapsulate your wedding vibe in one gorgeous statement area. The possibilities are pretty endless! From the couple who loved climbing using caribiner name tags, to the Doctors who used pill bottles, we’ve seen a never ending stream of fresh and personalized ideas. And if you can’t think of something unique to the two of you, Champagne never fails to win your guests’ hearts! Stay tuned for some really fun and pretty darn gorgeous examples popping up at our weddings this year!
While we still love some hand lettering now and again we’re really in love with the modern and clean look that typeface gives you. A few years ago it was all wooden signs with white calligraphy but we’re seeing an endless array of creative and unique signage that can really set your wedding apart. Better yet, you can tie your day of pieces in with your invitation suite to create a cohesive aesthetic, so guests get a glimpse of what to expect from the initial contact and then see that built on on the day. With a background in experiential design this is one of the elements that gets us really excited! Why just have a wedding when you can have a whole wedding brand?!
Ok, so this has to be one of our absolute favorite trends and probably always will be! Flowers are not just for bouquets and centerpieces. If your budget allows, investing in some show stopping installations will elevate your look and transform your venue. Whether it’s an accent piece on your seating chart, a ceremony install, or floral chandelier over your head table, you can never have too many flowers! To ensure you’re keeping things sustainable we recommend selecting a florist who sources local, seasonal flowers as much as possible and stays away from floral foam. You can also look for ways to repurpose or donate your flowers after the event. We’d be happy to discuss options with you.
Non Bridesmaids Dresses
If mismatched was the new matchy matchy, then letting your bridesmaids where whatever they want has to be the new mismatched! We love how effortless this look is and how it lets all your friends bring their unique style to your day. Of course it can be very hard to relinquish control so you can give your team some pretty specific guidelines if you want to keep it relatively cohesive.
The last couple of years saw couples tiring of the traditional wedding cake and opting for donut walls and dessert bars, and while we love them, we are super excited about the return to cake, now that cakes look like this!! There are so many incredibly talented cake artists in the Seattle area that you can be certain they’ll create a show stopper that compliments your wedding style perfectly.
Last, but by no means least, neon signs! This has to be one of our favorite trends from the last couple of years and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon! In fact, we just added one to our rental inventory, so look out for a preview really soon!
Have some other favorite trends? Ones you can’t wait to see the back of? Let us know!! We’re excited to see what new things emerge this year…
