Sue & Jonathan’s love story had me welling up from the start! These high school sweethearts lost touch and went their separate ways in life until fate reconnected them last year. When I met them in November, not only were they engaged but also pregnant! They wanted to elope on New Year’s Eve and had rented the cutest waterfront airbnb on Vashon Island as their base. While they knew they wanted a low key day with just the two of them, they didn’t want to scrimp on any of the details.
Sue knew that she wanted an elegant and clean look with white florals and greenery, accented with black and gold.
Knowing that a December day in Seattle can be risky weather-wise, we came up with a rain-proof ceremony backdrop, in the form of a floral adorned fireplace and enlisted the always incredible Colibri Blooms to bring the vision to life. As always she knocked it out of the park and created something with a huge wow factor, that the couple were able to enjoy long after the elopement by taking it home and placing it on their own fireplace!
Ink & Sable created a beautiful stationery suite as a memento; vow books, a menu (that featured the actual tasting menu they sampled at Urban Bistro later that night) escort cards and a commemorative invitation. She also created announcement cards sharing news, not only of the marriage but also the baby, to share with family and friends.
Sue choose a beautiful two piece from BHLDN that hid her cute bump and Jonathan wore a sharp black suit and shirt. Pacific Brides made the blushing bride look even more beautiful with old Hollywood waves and a red lip.
The beautiful cake came from the couple’s favorite local bakery, Corina Bakery in Tacoma, and was decorated with florals by Colibri Blooms.
We chose swathes of white gauze to decorate the sweetheart table, accenting with bold black candlesticks from CB2, green frayed edge napkins and as many florals as we could squeeze on the table.
It was such a special way to spend New Year’s Eve, witnessing this crazy in love couple say their vows and what had to be THE most beautiful day! Michelle Allan perfectly captured all the details and emotion, before we left the couple to head off for their romantic dinner.
